SKYFIELD
Installed as part of Ecoismi in Cassano d’Adda, Italy, 2013
500 steel rods with polystyrol mirror discs
The concept stems from the idea of capturing the changing and ephemeral nature of the sky and bringing it to the ground. By providing a new context for its observation, the installation aims to highlight the presence and character of the sky as an integral element of the Isola Borromeo Natural Park setting. The installation itself is a reflective armature which brings the overhead movements, colours and shapes to eye-level, giving visitors a new perspective and a physical way of experiencing a fleeting phenomenon. The project questions the definition and character of what is natural. Using a geometrical pattern and man- and machine-made components it nevertheless blends into and speaks of the natural setting.
